A Senufo among the Bobos.
Ismael Sanogo spent the majority of his childhood in Ivory Coast, where he discovered and practiced with the dance troupe ‘Touramanka’ in Bouraké. Soon after he arrived in Bamako, he encountered a Bwazan performance, and for him, the Bobo culture was a revelation. After an intensive period learning the dun dun (specifically, the sangban) and different traditional rhythms from Bassidi Koné, Ismael joined the group in 2009 as a musician, dancer, and also a singer. His perseverance, discipline and enthusiasm has made Ismael an essential part of Bwazan.
